St. Anthony Regional Hospital Extends Electronic Medical Record with OnBase by Hyland in Two Weeks

St. Anthony's Regional Hospital, one of 16 regional hospitals in Iowa, recently went live on an integrated OnBase and Meditech 6 solution in the Accounts Payable and Patient Financial Services departments. The integrated solution was rapidly deployed in less than two weeks. As a result, end-of-month financial processes were immediately shortened by more than two weeks by moving to a completely paperless system.

The integration enables staff members to access content normally stored outside of the electronic medical record (EMR), without leaving Meditech. This helps clinicians reduce search time and eliminate errors from toggling between various applications.

'The time savings, instant access to content and new functionality are very helpful to staff members,' said Randy Eischeid, Information Technology Director, St. Anthony Regional Hospital. 'We're saving a significant amount of time printing and scanning content, which has also accelerated our review and approval processes.'

'As much as 65 percent of an organization's electronic and paper content may be stored outside of the EMR,' said Susan deCathelineau, vice president of healthcare sales and services at Hyland. 'This forces clinicians and staff to manually hunt down the remaining information. Integrating enterprise content management (ECM) and EMR solutions are critical to creating more complete patient records and helping hospitals deliver more efficient and better patient care.'
