Hyland and TECH CORPS Partner to Deliver Fun, Interactive Computer Science Lessons for Schools During CSEdWeek
Technology lessons will be shared with thousands of students across all grade levels worldwide
Hyland, a leading global provider of content services solutions, has partnered with TECH CORPS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring students have access to computer science programs, to support this year’s Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek), Dec. 7-13. CSEdWeek is an annual event designed to inspire K-12 students to learn computer science, advocate for equity in computer science education, and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers and partners within the field.
For this year’s event, teachers and parents will lead “Share Your Sketch” lessons in which students create animated sketches with easy-to-use tools. The lessons are designed so anyone can teach them – no computer science background is required. The program is geared toward elementary school students but can be used at any grade level.
“With Hyland’s help, we will deliver engaging lessons to thousands of students around the world,” said Lisa M. Chambers, TECH CORPS national executive director. “Hyland’s support over many years has helped us pursue our mission of ensuring K-12 students have equal acess to computer science programs, skills and resources that prepare them for college, credentials and career.”
Hyland has promoted the program to its 3,000 employees around the world as well as the company’s education partners. Hyland employees used FlipGrid, a video discussion tool, to record technology videos students can view – and add to – during CSEdWeek. Hyland has also provided funding for prizes and incentives for participants who submit a FlipGrid video or post pictures of students using the lessons on social media.
“We are excited to build on our partnership with TECH CORPS to support its mission of making computer science education accessible to all students,” said Caitlin Nowlin, team lead, Programs Management at Hyland. “CSEdWeek is an important part of our outreach strategy that helps students develop technology skills for the future and gives our employees the opportunity to give back to the community.” In addition to CSEdWeek, Hyland’s tech outreach programs include Hy-Tech Camps, Hy-Tech Clubs, Hackathons and High School Innovation Showdowns to introduce students to a range of technology topics.
