Cuyahoga Community College’s One Door Initiative Improves Student Success with OnBase by Hyland

'One door, many options for success,' is the motto Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) is bringing to life as part of its One Door initiative through the use of OnBase by Hyland — a single enterprise information platform for managing content, processes and cases across the institution — with a goal of improving student retention and completion rates.

As part of the One Door initiative, Tri-C and Hyland are partnering around the OneRecord project that aggregates disparate student data once accessed within multiple applications and presents the information in one comprehensive view, which is supported by the OnBase platform. When assisting students, Tri-C employees no longer spend extra time accessing the institution's different systems of record, such as Banner® by Ellucian, Ellucian Degree Works™, Blackboard Transact and Blackboard Learn.

'Tri-C is improving the student service one-stop shop model by thoughtfully organizing their data and strategically underpinning it with OnBase technology, setting a new standard for the higher education industry,' said Laurel Stiller, global portfolio manager, higher education at Hyland. 'With OneRecord, Tri-C employees are able to devote time to student-facing relationship building instead of flipping through many different screens to access information, and students no longer have to visit multiple offices to get the answers they need.'

OneRecord, which went live in summer 2016, was also paired with training provided to all employees — effectively empowering every college staff member to assist students. As part of the improved student service one-stop shop model, a single student record view now exists as well as a method for efficiently tracking interactions across the student lifecycle.

'Our goal is to provide our students with one of the most flexible, valuable and powerful educational experiences possible,' said Terri Pope, Ph.D., president of Tri-C's Westshore Campus. 'OnBase helps us meet these goals by enabling our staff members to provide better student service from any Tri-C location across the region, and eliminate barriers to completion for more than 55,000 students.'
